First Year: Year of Acquaintances

New school campus; new faces to see; new culture to acclimatize myself with; new clique of friends; new set of teachers and a new life to begin. This was one chapter in my life that I was hesitant enter. But that was only at first.

I was a new comer. That’s why I thought that my life would be miserable. I would wake up in the morning with cold feet, as if I would never learn how to develop it. I would enter the campus with my head down, as if counting the tiny leaves that had fallen from the UST. That was the story of my days. But change is inevitable. And it was when I met my friends that soon became my best friends, and now my “tropas” that changed the whole thing.

Everyday was a carousel ride. Everyday was merrymaking. Everyday was revelry. In short, everyday was fun. And it was because of them. It was my friends that made my day.

If everyday was a carousel ride, if everyday was merrymaking and if everyday was revelry forever will be happiness.

But my first year life will never be that stirring if my teachers were not there. They are Mrs. Jean Ocahngco, our class adviser and our Filipino teacher. Next to Filipino subject was Science and Ms. Violy Nouay was our teacher. After that was Religion and it was Sir Ton Ton who taught us to be closer to Him. Next is English time, my favorite and our teacher was the Mrs. Celedonia Morales. Home Economics- our next period is a whole bunch of cooking or rather heating instant soups and merrymaking. And who will not rejoice if Mrs. Marian Wolcott is your teacher? And oops---Algebra, our next subject. So after merrymaking, Calvary was next because of this tough subject. And Sir Palomares (sorry, I forgot his first name) was with us through the Calvary. And teaching Philippine history for our Araling Panlipunan, Sir Reynaldo Duque was our teacher. For Music and Computer, Ms. Mary Ann Vecino was our teacher. For Health and P.E. it was Mrs. Isabelita Cruz. This is a sign of accolade; due respect and gratitude for all the things they taught me, and not only me, but to all of us.

To sum it up, my first year life was not that boring, uninteresting, tedious, dull, dreary, mind numbing, tiresome, lackluster, unexciting, monotonous, humdrum and uninspiring.
